I have been a member of PrecAnthro since its start in 2016. I have spoken about academic precarity in various roundtables and events (like this one), and after nine years of precarity I have decided to run for the Executive Committee of the EASA to push for anti-precarity measures and policies. In 2023 I was elected President of the association, an office that humbles and honours me.

Together with the current executive committee of EASA, I launched initiatives that shaped the organisation’s future as a dynamic and inclusive association. We established an EASA summer school, launched a mentorship program, and developed a strategic vision for EASA’s growth, inclusivity, and relevance. We strengthened dialogue with national associations, enlivened our digital presence, and supported the establishment of a Working Group on academic freedom and human rights.

At the 2024 EASA conference, we made important strides in supporting precarious scholars, those with disabilities, and those balancing caregiving responsibilities with engagement in our association. We introduced childcare, shuttle transport between conference locations, and supported more than 20% of precarious scholars’ applications for financial aid – the highest proportion so far.

I have been a co-convenor of EASA’s Anthropology of Security Network (ASN) from 2020 to 2022, and a co-convenor of the APeCS network from 2022 to 2024. I have coordinated the merging of ASN with PACSA (Peace and Conflict Studies in Anthropology) that resulted in APeCS. The new network can be found here, and its tweets can be accessed here.

In 2023-24, I served as the president of the Scientific Committee for the EASA2024 conference in Barcelona.

In 2022, I joined the Editorial Board of Conflict and Society, and the Editorial Board of the new series Crisis, Conflict and Security in Central and Eastern Europe at CEU Press.

Since 2020, I have been a social media editor of the Anthropological Journal of European Cultures, and I occasionally tweet from AJEC’s account.

Over the span of a decade, I have (co-)organised over 20 workshops, conferences, panels, labs, round tables, and presented my work in over 40 academic events.
